ECS ARC

EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS SERVICE
AMATEUR RADIO CLUB
WB2QBP / K2ARC

A Partner Group with
The American Red Cross in Greater New York
Disaster Services

Affiliated with
The American Radio Relay League (“ARRL”)

The ECSARC is based out of the Queens Area Office of the American Red Cross, and has performed as an integral part since its original formation in 1964 as the American Red Cross Emergency Radio Club.

In addition to standing ready to assist the Red Cross with emergency communications, ECS ARC provides communications for a number of public service events in Queens and the rest of the New York Metro area. We maintain two repeater systems on 70 CM for the use of our members and for communications during public service events and communications emergencies:

WB2QBP-R 442.650MHz
WB2ZTH-R 447.175MHz

A number of our members are active in contesting and DX activities. Among our membership, you can find activity on all modes for just about every band. There's something for everyone. We also sponsor VE sessions and have sponsored licensing classes in the past.

Public service events that ECS ARC routinely participates in are:

ARRL Annual Field Day Weekend
Queens Center for Progress' (QCP) Annual Hike for Health
The annual Hong Kong Dragon Boat Races / Festival
Alley Pond Striders Annual Five Mile Run, Alley Pond Park, Queens, NY

These events serve to keep our members' traffic handling skills in top form, provide a needed service to the sponsoring organization and are just plain fun.

We meet the first Tuesday of every month at 7:30 PM (unless otherwise noted) at:

American Red Cross in Greater New York - Queens Area Office
138-02 Queens Boulevard
First Floor
Briarwood, NY 11435

All interested, FCC Amateur Radio licensees or not, are welcome. For further information, we invite you to visit our web site at: www.arcecs.org, or contact our public information officer, Lenny Smith/N2LDV , at (718) 357-6851.
